Paljaya Provides Safe Sanitation Education

Perumda Paljaya held an educational activity about Safe Sanitation at the Pancoran Community Health Center, South Jakarta, Monday (9/15).

environmental quality and public health can improve

This event is part of the 'Paljaya Greets Jakarta 2.0' program series which will run throughout September 2025 to commemorate Paljaya's 34th anniversary.

About 30 participants of health workers from the Pancoran Health Center, Kalibata Urban Village residents, and college students attended the activity.

This education carries the theme 'Healthy Together with Paljaya' with material about wastewater sources, the management process to achieve safe sanitation, and Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS).

Perumda Paljaya President Director Untung Suryadi appreciated the participants' enthusiasm, due to many questions they asked, particularly regarding septic tank management.

"Most residents already understand wastewater, but many still don't understand how to manage septic tanks, including how often they should be pumped out. We explained them all," he said.

He also explained the two types of wastewater management systems namely on-site wastewater treatment and centralized wastewater treatment. On-site wastewater treatment operates in each resident's home, while the centralized system utilizes a pipe network managed by Paljaya. Untung explained that Paljaya aims to raise awareness among residents about managing their household waste independently.

"Currently, the largest pipe network is in Setiabudi District. We are actively promoting our Biopal septic tank product to the public, and this activity serves as a means of socialization," he explained.

For health center waste, some already have wastewater treatment installations that meet quality standards before being discharged into water bodies.

Paljaya also collaborates with community health centers to ensure that medical and domestic waste processing is carried out according to standards.

"We hope that people's behavior can change with the Community-Based Total Sanitation (STBM) system. So that environmental quality and public health can improve," he hoped.
